Lake George, NY — Visitor spending in Warren County reached $956.6 million in 2025, a 3.1 percent increase over the previous year, according to the annual Economic Impact of Visitors to New York study released by the New York State Division of Tourism and conducted by Tourism Economics. Lodging remained the county's largest visitor spending category, increasing from approximately $467 million in 2024 to $481.6 million in 2025. Tourism generated $60.1 million in local tax revenue, up 3.4 percent, and $57.1 million in state tax revenue, up 4.7 percent.
Tourism supported 8,695 jobs in Warren County in 2025 -- the most of any county in the Adirondack Region -and accounted for 23.5 percent of all employment in the county. Warren County Tourism Director Heather Bagshaw said, “These numbers demonstrate that tourism is more than an important part of Warren County's economy. It strengthens businesses throughout the county and generates tax revenue that benefits every resident. Nearly $1 billion in annual visitor spending reflects the collective work of our tourism businesses, workforce and communities to make the Lake George Area a destination people continue to choose.”
Tourism was more important to the Adirondack Region’s economy last year than that of any other region in the state. Tourism supported 18.7 percent of all employment in the Adirondacks in 2025, the highest share of any tourism region in New York State. In 2025, Regional visitor spending reached nearly $2.6 billion, an increase in direct spending of around 2.8 percent. That spending generated more than $157 million in local tax revenue, an increase of 2.5 percent over last year, and $142 million in state tax revenue, an increase of 4.5 percent over last year, according to the report.
Statewide, tourism spending reached $97.61 billion last year, up 3.9 percent from 2024. Tourism remains one of the state’s largest industries, visitor spending both directly and indirectly supporting close to 1 million jobs and generating billions of dollars in state and local tax revenue.
