Festival of Trees - SchenectadySchenectady, NY – The Festival of Trees is once again lighting up Schenectady this holiday season. Over fifty sponsors from local businesses and non-profit organizations have come together to turn the galleries of the SCHS and the YWCA into lands of wintertide enchantment. Featuring a total of 80 trees decorated in classic to kooky Christmas styles, The Festival of Trees is a glittering blend of wit and whimsy.

Since 2007 the Festival of Trees has offered the community an opportunity to be creative with tree decorations. This year's Festival includes multiple "upside-down" trees, a holiday vignette of Central Park, and dozens of fir trees adorned with birds, origami, Victorian-era ornaments, emojis, and more. The event is a partnership between the Schenectady County Historical Society and YWCA of NorthEastern NY, and brings over 1,500 people to the neighboring organizations each year. Beyond providing a seasonal event for Schenectadians to enjoy as part of their holiday activities, the Festival of Trees is a fundraiser for the two non-profits.

This year's Festival of Trees will feature free activities for children, including a station for making Christmas cards. And, in the tradition of years past, the Festival of Trees will open with an exclusive evening of food, wine, and cheer at the Night of Lights (December 6 at 7pm, tickets $20). The Festival of Trees runs from December 7 - December 22, 10am-5pm, daily. Admission is $8, free for children under 12. More information about the Festival of Trees and tickets for the Night of Lights are available at schenectadyhistorical.org.
