Glens Falls, N.Y. - The Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC) will present the works of artists Noah Bonesteel and Katie Langford in Show IV: Meet Me in the Woods, May 22-June 24. The opening reception takes place on Friday, May 22, 5-7pm; all are invited to meet these accomplished young contemporary artists and celebrate their work.
Both artists are inspired by the natural world, views, fauna and flora of our Adirondack region, but each interprets this aesthetic with their own unique vision and artistic styling. LARAC will host an Artists Talk on Thursday, June 4, 5:30pm, offering the public the opportunity to learn more about the artists, their artistic practice and inspiration. This drop-in event is free and open to the public as well.
Noah Bonesteel is a painter and printmaker who brings an abstract and layered approach to landscape using vibrant color, expressive mark-making, superimposed plant and animal forms. Fueled by his love of the woods, natural history and ecology, the artist explores the complex relationship humans have with the planet with his work, layering and weaving pieces from the natural world with man-made found objects into his compositions. Noah is a recent recipient of a BFA in painting and drawing from SUNY Plattsburgh; his work has been included in and received awards in exhibitions across the Adirondack and Capital Regions.
As an oil painter with a background in illustration, Katie Langford brings a character-driven narrative to the work, encapsulating the story within. Frequently painting plein air on location, the artist explores subject matter with an eye to the duality of the natural world: fleeting moments of light flying across the monumental timelessness of the mountains, magical windows of luminescence within the primordial darkness of the forest. Katie has participated in and won several awards from plein air festivals and has been featured in solo and group shows throughout the Adirondack and Capital regions.
Located at 7 Lapham Place in downtown Glens Falls, NY, LARAC’s Lapham Gallery is open Monday-Saturday 10-3, Thursdays to 6pm. To learn more, visit larac.org.
