Lake George Arts ProjectLake George, NY — The Lake George Arts Project’s Courthouse Gallery is pleased to present “My Backyard,” a solo exhibition of recent landscape paintings by acclaimed artist Laura Von Rosk. The exhibition runs from November 6 through December 12, with an Opening Reception for the artist on Saturday, November 7, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Created over the past three years, “My Backyard” features natural and manmade structures as the central compositional element. Through careful attention to shape and placement, Von Rosk invests both her subjects and their surrounding environments with distinct character and psychological presence.

"Using both visual recall and invented forms, I aim to create an atmospheric space that recalls a memory of a place or event," states Von Rosk. "Paintings shift in meaning over time, transforming into something unexpected, and often carrying multiple, even contradictory, meanings."

Von Rosk’s work has been exhibited extensively nationwide and regionally. She holds an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BFA from Purchase College, SUNY. Her numerous honors include grants from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), a Painting Fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. She has participated in prestigious artist residency programs, including Yaddo, the Millay Colony, Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Arte Studio Ginestrelle in Assisi, Italy, and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in Ireland.
