Saratoga County Historical Society“Digital Docent” Boosts Accessibility and Visitor Engagement

Ballston Spa, NY (Oct. 24, 2018) - The Saratoga County Historical Society at Brookside Museum has added a “Digital Docent” (SEO with Artificial Intelligence) to boost website visitor engagement.

It was designed to make history and art more accessible to local residents and visitors by acting as a real-time guide when they are looking at online images.  The digital equivalent of a brick-and-mortar museum docent, the Digital Docent uses Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to know the entire Brookside Museum collection, and then make real-time recommendations that match visitor interests.

The museum’s online collection of 23,000 historical objects, photographs, and artwork is now available with just the click of a button from any page on the website.  Previously, guests were required to search for the archive collection using the site’s general menu, and were then re-directed to a third-party site to see the objects  after navigating several other pages.

By streamlining accessibility, the Brookside Museum hopes to change perceptions regarding the museum and local history.  It gives the Saratoga County Historical Society new ways to engage tourists, local residents and sponsors.   Website visitors can now seamlessly access everything.  Click an icon in the corner of any page to view the archive collection, or an arrow to minimize it back to the corner.

The Digital Docent supports Brookside Museum’s mission to keep history alive through interactive educational programs and innovative exhibits that engage the community, instill a deeper understanding of local history, and inspire our future.
