Slate Valley Museum logoGranville, NY – The Slate Valley Museum has announced it will host two creative workshops this October, inviting all to try their hand at wire wrapping and painting on slate.

Instructor Darcie Parrott will return to the museum to teach an introductory wire wrapping workshop on Friday, October 9 from 7-9pm.

Attendees will learn how to encase a chunk of slate within a decorative and functional wire cage – beautiful for jewelry or home decor. Guests will each wrap two pieces of slate, one with thin wire and one with thick wire. At the end of the workshop, each participant will have created two slate pendants.

The fee to participate in the workshop is $40 per person and includes all materials. Pre-registration is required. Those interested in attending should contact the museum at 518-642-1417 or mail@slatevalleymuseum.org. 

The museum will host its autumn Paint on Slate workshop on Friday, October 16 from 7-9pm.

Painters will use a Slate Valley roofing tile as their canvas for a festive pumpkin adorned for Halloween with a witch’s hat. Art teacher Darcie Parrott provides step-by-step guidance throughout the process. No painting experience is necessary.

Pre-registration for the workshop is required. Tickets are $40 per person and include all art materials and a selection of snacks and drinks.
