June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Albany, N.Y. – The New York State Library announces its upcoming programming for June 2024, including webinars and events related to historical events, genealogical services, small business development assistance, and other exciting topics. The following upcoming free programming requires registration and is available either in person or online, as indicated in each listing.

Albany, NY --  The Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) announces the return of two free event series this summer: State Street Yoga, and Tunesday. State Street Yoga is an outdoor yoga class for all experience levels taking place on the lawn at SUNY Plaza near Broadway and State Street. Tunesday is a free lunchtime concert series featuring a variety of musical talent every Tuesday afternoon in Jim DiNapoli Park at Broadway and Pine Street.

Staatsburg, N.Y.  (5/28/24) — This summer, Staatsburgh State Historic Site is offering free guided landscape walks on the Gilded Age estate’s beautiful grounds overlooking the Hudson River. The program, entitled “What You See… and What You Don’t See,” shows how Staatsburgh’s landscape architect designed a glorious setting that showcased the good life in the Gilded Age, while deliberately using landscape elements to hide the technology and labor that made a turn-of-the-century estate run.

Project creates safe and accessible place to launch kayaks and car-top boats onto Otsego Lake

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation today announced the opening of a new accessible kayak launch at Glimmerglass State Park in Cooperstown. The $50,000 project provides the public, including people with mobility challenges, access to recreational kayaking and car-top size boating on Otsego Lake.

Bear Mountain, NY (May 24, 2024) – Ten months after the historic storm that led to its closure, the Appalachian Trail at Bear Mountain State Park will reopen for Memorial Day weekend 2024. Additionally, the previously closed sections of the Major Welch and Suffern – Bear Mountain trails will also open to hikers.

Hudson Link Buses Transport Thousands of Pedestrians and Bicyclists to Popular Shared-Use Path Each Year

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced that Hudson Link's free weekend shuttle bus servicing the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge shared-use path will restart service this Saturday, May 25, and continue every weekend through Sunday, October 27. Pedestrians and cyclists will once again be able to use this easy and convenient service to access one of the longest and most scenic shared-use paths in the country. The shuttle service will operate from select locations in Westchester and Rockland counties and transport passengers to the path’s landing sites on either side of the Hudson River.
