NYS Parks, Recreation, Historic Preservation Rensselaer, N.Y. – On August 12 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm, discover how colonists in the Hudson River Valley prepared ice cream on hot summer days, long before electricity made it easy to keep things cold.  Watch as interpreters in period costume use colonial era recipes, ice cream molds, and a reproduction 18th century ice cream maker called a sabotiere to prepare this summer treat the old fashioned way.  A scavenger hunt will highlight items in the museum related to Dutch colonial dairy production, the sugar trade, and more.  Visitors of all ages will also learn how to make their own ice cream at home, using basic ingredients and simple techniques.

Finger Lakes Cheese FestivalPutting down roots!

Finger Lakes, N.Y. -- The sixth annual Finger Lakes Cheese Festival is slated for Saturday July 22rd, 2017 from 10:00am-5:00pm at Sunset View Creamery in Odessa, NY, just east of Watkins Glen and south of Ithaca. Sunset View is a founding member of the Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance, which puts on this annual family-focused event. The Planning Committee is excited to announce many new additions to this year's festival.

The event features a full farm market featuring creameries of the Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance providing tastings along with many local food and farm vendors.

Welcome Centers and Taste NY stores in the Mid-Hudson, Long Island and Southern Tier regions drive tourism and boost the local economy.  In addition, Taste NY concessions have now been expanded to 10 state parks.

May 22, 2017– Auburn, NY - The 2017 Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail will kick-off on June 2 from 5 – 8 pm at the Finger Lakes Arts Council, 101 Genesee Street in downtown Auburn, a community open house coordinated by the Auburn Downtown BID. Wayne CountyNewark, N.Y. – The Village of Newark, the Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce, and the Wayne County Farm Bureau have joined forces to host the first ever Taste of Wayne County.  This exciting outdoor event will be held on Tuesday, July 18th, 2017 from 4:30 to 8:30 PM along VanBuren Street from Main Street to East Avenue, and in the T. Spencer Knight Canal Park.

The Taste of Wayne County was created to showcase vendors, restaurants, and other food and drink related businesses solely from Wayne County through samples of their “signature” dishes, food products, or beverages. …

Long Acre Farms generationsMacedon, N.Y. - There is a lot of pride in a farm that has remained in the same family since the 1920’s and Long Acre Farms is celebrating the arrival of the 4th generation with a Grand Re-Opening Celebration on May 20th and 21st.  “We have spent all winter remodeling and updating our Farm Market and Ice Cream shop this winter to accommodate the vision of the next generation,” states Joan Allen, owner/partner.  “My husband Doug and I are thrilled to welcome our daughter back to the farm and with that we realized we needed some changes.”  The newly enclosed and expanded market and ice cream shop adds additional retail and work space along with heating and air conditioning to extend the season.  The outdoor seating areas will be updated as well to accommodate a woodfired pizza oven.  “We put off major renovations not knowing if we had any of our children interested in coming back to the farm,” adds Allen “but when Sarah Allen Henning and her husband Matthew moved back from Pennsylvania we jumped right in.”…

Flour City Brew Fest 1VIP Tickets Sold Out in Less Than One Hour; General Admission Tickets on Sale this Week

Rochester, N.Y. – In just the blink of an eye, VIP Tickets have sold out for this year's Flour City Brewers Fest.  A larger quantity of VIP tickets were offered this year, due largely in part to the expansion of the festival’s venue, the Rochester Public Market, and the planned increase of featured breweries.

By 11:10am Friday morning, festival organizers had posted the sold-out notice on the event’s Facebook page, additionally stating that General Admission tickets will go on sale this Friday, May 5th at 10am, and once again, the festival will be conducting a handful of random VIP Ticket Upgrade promotions over the next couple months.

Purchase, N.Y. — On Sunday, June 18 beginning at 3 pm at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center, the Philharmonic welcomes Westchester-born conductor Andrew Litton, who was recently named Music Director of the New York City Ballet, to lead a Father’s Day season finale concert of Weber, Tchaikovsky & Dvorak. Immediately following the concert, audiences will grill with the Phil at an outdoor Father's Day celebration for the whole family.

The 3pm concert program opens with Weber’s Overture to Euryanthe then, Maestro Litton teams with the orchestra and guest pianist Conrad Tao in an all-time favorite, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, followed by Dvořák’s beloved New World Symphony and its familiar English horn solo.

Pianist Tao’s jaw-dropping technique and sensitive phrasing belie his youth and have inspired ovations world-wide. According to The Baltimore Sun, Tao is “An explosive force…[he] possesses startling technical elan and an ability to communicate clearly, no matter how thorny a score may become. He also has a hefty dash of charm.”…

America's WonderNiagara Falls, N.Y. – The America's Wonder Dinner Show played to rave reviews in 2016, with a showcase of great American Music at the Great American Waterfall - Niagara Falls!  In 2017 the show returns with two incarnations.
