Poughkeepsie, NY– Dutchess Tourism, Inc. (DTI) is proud to announce that the Discover Dutchess Destination Guide has been awarded a Platinum MarCom Award and a Silver Davey Award.
MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. Well respected industry-wide, the Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). In the past, only about 15 percent of entries have earned Platinum awards, a level the Association deems a tremendous achievement.
The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the "Creative Davids," who derive their strength from big ideas rather than big budgets. The Davey Awards is the leading awards competition specifically for smaller entities as they compete with their peers to win the recognition they deserve. The Daveys are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA).
The Discover Dutchess Destination Guide was presented in a fresh format this year, focusing on the unique personalities of each community in the county and offering visitors four distinct destinations in one. Published in June 2020 as a resource for visitors and residents alike, the guide was produced in partnership with Chronogram Media.
“I am incredibly proud of the tremendous team effort that went into producing this award-winning guide,” said Dutchess Tourism President & CEO Melaine Rottkamp. “This inspirational marketing tool helps us attract visitors who will support our local businesses and keep thousands of our friends and neighbors employed.” According to Rottkamp, visitors to Dutchess County spend over half a billion dollars a year at the county’s museums, shops, historic sites, arts venues, festivals, farms, restaurants, hotels and other attractions. She also noted that in 2018, visitors contributed $43.7 million in local and $35 million in state taxes which go back into our community for improvements to roads, bridges, parks and expanded government services.
Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “Dutchess County is a destination renowned by visitors worldwide, and no one tells our story better than Dutchess Tourism. The Discover Dutchess Destination Guide is a comprehensive resource profiling the local attractions, events and eateries that make us distinct – a wealth of knowledge for those traveling from around the corner or around the globe to visit our diverse communities. I’m thrilled Dutchess Tourism’s tireless efforts have been again recognized, and I encourage visitors near and far to come write their own story here in Dutchess County.”
The Guide is available at DTI’s Tourist Information Centers throughout the county, as well as at New York State Thruway Information Centers. Guides are also sent by request to chambers of commerce, business organizations, AAA Clubs and individuals responding to ads, articles and social media posts.
