Yonkers, NY – From the myth of the man in the moon and Frank Sinatra’s romantic rendition, to Neil Armstrong’s two-hour, 31 minutes and 40 seconds walk, the moon has captivated civilizations for centuries. Families and kids are invited to explore the science behind this heavenly body at a free lunar lecture and moon viewing evening at Yonkers Riverfront Library on July 9 at 5:00 p.m.

Journey Along the 1st Mile - CanalsPeople with Disabilities are invited to take part in 1st Mile Challenge along the Erie Canal

Waterford, N.Y. (June 12, 2019) - Get ready for the ride of a lifetime! From July 1-10, John Robinson, CEO of Our Ability, Inc, will complete his 7th Journey Along the Erie Canal. A congenital amputee born without full arms and legs, Robinson will use a handcycle to ride all 360 miles from Buffalo to Albany to raise awareness of the needs of people with disabilities. Along the way, he and his team are inviting people with disabilities and their families and friends to join them for the 1st Mile Challenge, as part of the Canalway Challenge.

Adirondack Theatre - 25 YearsGlens Falls, N.Y. – Producing Artistic Director, Chad Rabinovitz, announces Adirondack Theatre Festival’s PB&J Café: A Dinner Theatre for Kids will present Alice In Wonderland as part of the 2019 line-up. The show, presented for children 12 and under, runs June 25-28, and July 16-20 with both matinee and early evening performances. All performances will be at the Charles R. Wood Theater in Downtown Glens Falls, NY. Wild Center Otters 2Tupper Lake, N.Y. - The Wild Center family is expanding this summer with the arrival of two male North American river otters. The pair make their debut in Otter Falls on Saturday, June 22 from 10am to 5pm, which also marks The Wild Center's inaugural You Otter Run/Walk 5K benefitting the Center's Betsy Lowe Fund for Adirondack Education.

The pair began their journey to The Wild Center in Ohio where they were trapped as nuisance animals.  Crayfish farmers in Ohio often trap North American river otters as their diet subsists of crayfish, as well as snakes, frogs and fish. These trapped river otters are often slated to be killed and used for fur, or in some cases, relocated to areas without enough food to survive.
