North Creek, NY – New York State’s Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) announces opening dates and times for summer activities at Gore Mountain.
Scenic Skyrides – Northwoods Gondola
Gore’s Northwoods Gondola is a highly accessible and stunning way to enjoy summer in the mountains, whether for as little as a half-hour or an entire day. The eight-passenger cabins easily accommodate mountain bikes, strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers, and the ride is ideal for small children and those timid of heights. Enjoy spectacular views of the High Peaks and southern Adirondacks, bring a picnic lunch, and walk along the summit. When ready, board the gondola for the return trip or hike back down. Open: Thursday through Sunday, plus holidays, June 30 through September 4 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. In fall, the gondola operates Saturdays and Sundays, September 10 through October 9, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Downhill Mountain Biking
Gear up for the adrenaline rush of extreme downhill mountain biking. Lift-serviced terrain descends 1,700 vertical feet on forested single track and wide-open ski trails. Several trails, including Sidewinder and The Hollow, are reshaped this year for a smoother ride. Riders can also enjoy a more laidback ride on the cross-country trail loops in the Base Area. Open: Thursday through Sunday, plus holidays, June 30 through September 4 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. In fall, the gondola is open to take riders to the summit Saturdays and Sundays, September 10 through October 9, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Hiking
With the largest network of ski trails in the State of New York, Gore Mountain offers a multitude of hiking options to explore for all interests and abilities, from challenging climbs to gentle strolls. Interpretive signs on some trails help keep hikers on track and help them discover flora and fauna along the way. Park and hike from the Base Lodge or take the gondola to start from the summit. Open: Thursday through Sunday, plus holidays, June 30 through September 4 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Hiking is also open in the Fall on Saturdays and Sundays, September 10 through October 9, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Hiking at Gore is free, but visitors are asked to sign in and out a hiking registry at Guest Services or the ticket windows.
Disc Golf
A fun outdoor activity tossing frisbee-like discs from basket to basket, similar to golf and accessible for all ages and a wide range of athletic abilities. This family-friendly nine-hole course meanders through the Airbender Woods at different elevations. Players are supplied with three discs, each designed to throw from different distances. Open: Thursday through Sunday, plus holidays, June 30 through September 4 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. In the fall, disc golf is available Saturdays and Sundays, September 10 through October 9, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Visit goremountain.com for schedule, tickets, and other details.
Common Ground Summer Forum
On June 15th, Gore Mountain will host people from around the region to work together to identify and resolve issues of common concern in the Adirondack Park. From sustainability to housing to workforce topics and more, these summer forums bring people and organizations together to solve complex problems and create an annual Blue Print for the Blue Line, a set of recommendations to guide state agencies and lawmakers in managing the park and improving the quality of life for residents and visitors.
Mountain Master Craft Series
Artisans and crafters from around the region display their homemade and hand-crafted treasures at this slope-side shopping village for viewing and sale. Food, photography, paintings, pottery, jewelry, soaps, wood products, paper, fabric crafts, wine and spirits, and more are all part of the fun. Open second Sundays (July 10, August 11, September 11) in summer as well as Saturday and Sunday, October 8 and 9, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Due to weather and other factors, all Gore Mountain activities and schedules are subject to change. For schedules, tickets, pricing, and updates to operational schedules visit goremountain.com.
