Eastman Museum LogoRegistration is now open; See the city in a new way on the monthly George Eastman Bike Tour beginning on July 18

Rochester, N.Y., June 24, 2020—The George Eastman Museum has announced that it will begin its series of George Eastman Bike Tours on Saturday, July 18 at 10 a.m. The two-hour tour is led by Jesse Peers, archivist in the George Eastman Legacy Collection and certified bike educator. Peers will guide participants on the relaxed pace, 6.5-mile tour that begins and ends at the Eastman Museum. A nod to George Eastman’s own love of cycling, the bike tour will take riders to ten different locations related to the life and work of this pioneer of popular photography and famous Rochesterian. Each tour is $25 per person, and advance registration is required at eastman.org/biketours, as space is limited.

The museum introduced the bike tour series last year, selling out each of the four scheduled rides. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the museum was unable to offer tours in May and June, but registration is now open for the July 18, August 8, and September 12 rides at eastman.org/biketours. To participate, every rider will need to sign a waiver before the tour begins and must bring a helmet, mask, and tuned-up bike. In addition, the following steps are being taken for the safety of participants:

  • Riders must wear a mask or cycling buff that covers your nose and mouth (tour guide will also be masked).
  • Riders must try to maintain 6 feet of space from others when stopped and ride 20 feet behind the next rider.
  • Please avoid spitting and uncovered coughing, nasal drips, or other droplet transmissions.
  • If you're feeling ill, please stay home. We'll try our best to accommodate you on another ride.
