Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the official start of the Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games, welcoming 1,443 collegiate-athletes from more than 540 universities and 46 nations gathered to celebrate the biennial multi-winter sports event. The Lake Placid 2023 FISU Games will feature competition in 12 winter sports and 85 events in venues throughout the Adirondack North Country in Lake Placid as well as Wilmington, Saranac Lake, Potsdam, Canton and North Creek. Albany, N.Y. – The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission recently acquired a 15.1 acre parcel of land to add to the 3,400 acre preserve. The Commission purchased the property from a landowner that indicated they were interested in selling late last year. This new addition adds to the 41 acres the Town of Colonie dedicated to the preserve in February 2022, making up an area of nearly 120 connected acres of protected land in western Colonie.

Long Lake Winter Wonderland BingoLong Lake, N.Y. – Long Lake announces the third installment of Winter Wonderland Bingo highlighting activities, events and featuring outdoor recreation as a contest running until March 20th, 2023.

The exclusively designed Long Lake Raquette Lake Bingo card will be posted on social media, and printed cards will be available at the Long Lake Town Office and area businesses starting the first week of January.
