Mumford, NY – This December, Genesee Country Village & Museum invites families to begin a cherished tradition and step back in time for “Yuletide in the Country,” an unforgettable holiday experience blending immersive storytelling, local history, and festive cheer. On select nights—December 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 20, and 21—guests will be transported to an 1870s Christmas Eve, where the sights, smells, sounds, and stories of a 19th-century holiday come to life.

Governor Kathy Hochul and Empire State Development (ESD) today marked the official grand opening of the expanded The Studio facility at the storied Corning Museum of Glass. Established in 1996, The Studio offers glassmaking instruction across a spectrum of techniques and skill levels, host residencies for artists, and provide rentals of furnace, kiln, and cold-working spaces and equipment, along with a variety of other special programs.

Corning, NY — Some people know how to take a thing like pumpkin carving and make it into an art. One such caver, Eric Jones, will be in Corning during the Days of Incandescence this year carving live on Centerway Stage on Saturday, October 26th from 2:30-6:30pm.

Guinness world record holder and winner of Food Network's “Outrageous Pumpkins,” Eric has become a fixture in this unique form of culinary creativity. A finalist on “Halloween Wars” and a current competitor on Food Network’s “Halloween Wars All-Stars Season 14,” you can watch Eric carve giant pumpkins in person and get an up-close look at his carving wizardry.

Corning, NY — Once again during the last weekend of October, Corning will be transformed into 1880s Corning, as Explore Steuben hosts the popular three-day event called The Days of Incandescence which is inspired by Corning’s role making first glass bulbs for Thomas Edison’s incandescent lamps and a mysterious young shop boy at the factory who blew the first glass bubble. The overall event (10/24-10/26) features cemetery tours, guided walking tours (led by actors in costume), a fun themed Libations Crawl, and an old-time festival with folk-style music and craft vendors, live entertainment, and costumed actors to help create an 1880s feel.

Corning, NY — How often do you have a chance to experience the World Premiere of new music live and in person? On Saturday, October 26th, from 3-4pm, a special FREE family-friendly concert called “Phantoms of the Light" will take place at 171 Cedar Arts featuring new music written by local pianist Russel Anthony and inspired by The Legend of the Gathers and Days of Incandescence.

The music, which has a Halloween vibe, will be performed by Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes’ Augusto Diemecke on Violin and Christine Lowe-Diemecke on Cello, with Ithaca College and Binghamton University faculty member and accomplished pianist Pej Reitz on Piano.
